I love the 2003 Rock, where he was playing the Hollywood star heel. His interactions with The Hurricane were hilarious. You also had the concert in Cleveland, the feud with Goldberg, and his 'Mania win over Stone Cold. He's obviously had a ton of great moments, but his heel work in '03 was simply fantastic.

The guy that got me into wrestling!
Favourite Match: Ah, it's got to be vs Triple H at Backlash 2000. Not his best wrestling classic per se, what with all that was going on and not on the level of some of his bigger matches like vs Hogan and vs Austin @ Manias 17 & 18 but as a fan, for me, this was probably the moment I was 'into' the most of any involving Rock and one of my favourite mark out moments. Who will ever forget that pop when Austin came out!?
Moment: Probably his return last year... "after 7 long years".
Promo: Wow, no way I can list only 1, I'll do a top 3:
1)
This was Rock's best run, IMO. Even more than his 99-01 face run for me. Rock could truly take the shackles off when he turned heel, turning all of his face fanfare he'd built up over the years against the people. It was so frickin' fun to watch Rock insult the fans the way he'd insulted the heels all over the years. Who else would've taken a 2 minute backstage skit with Hurricane and make it into a main event match with nothing more than a few words? His best run, summarised in this promo!
2)
This one is admittedly shared with Jericho but Rock outclasses him I'm afraid, nothing on Jericho, he did fine but this was Rock hitting the mark just right with his insults! Yes, it's probably become more notorious for the F bomb at the end rather than the rest of it but there's never been a promo from Rock that got me laughing more than this one (not even This is Your Life, see *). You have to feel sorry for Booker T really! Brotha got shredded!
3)
This one is shared, also, with Austin but I couldn't leave it out. It's one of the most iconic promos/moments in Raw history simply because it was different! Sure, you could fill up a notepad with a list of Rock's promos where he's electrified the crowd, made jokes at the expense of the Big Show and volleyed off his eternal catchphrases and they'll all have been quality viewing but this was special. It was absurd. Totally, utterly unthinkable, that two arch rivals can go out before a huge PPV match and sing to and with each other. If anyone but these two had tried this, it would've left people scratching their heads and frowning but Austin and Rock had built up such a level of history and chemistry that they could do anything! And they did. And you'll likely never see it again. It's a promo I would include in both superstars' top 3.
I'm sure I may have missed some classics but these stand out in my mind. I've tried to mix it up and include all that made and make Rock the best on the mic in there.
*Also, with regards to This is Your Life, I left it off because I consider it more of a segment rather than a promo and Mankind made it as much as Rock did, I feel it's more of an achievement for Mick than the Rock. It's up there in both careers though- an absolute classic, no doubt.

Well done. Huge fan of his. I need to write a long column on him one day soon.

Rock's probably my favorite wrestler ever. I like him so much that I almost got the Brahma Bull tattoo last year, but eventually decided not to. I was first introduced to his greatness on YouTube, and I loved him so much that I decided I have to see everything of his, so in my insanity I got hold of every Raw and Smackdown from 1997 to 2001, and watched them all, just to see the development of The Rock [and also a few others, like Mankind and Austin to name a few]. My favorite match of his has to be VS Austin @ WM 17 [no surprise there], but it's his promos that I can't get enough of. I really liked his promos with Booker T in 2001, and also as the Corporate champion. The most memorable one for me has to be the segment where he threw Austin off the bridge ["You're going to hell, and you take the damn belt with ya!"].
Great thread.

Too many to name just one. Every so often I go on YouTube to re-live some great Rock moments. He's unlike anyone else. Just one of those people that really stand out.

Rock is easily my favorite superstar ever. So it should be fitting that my 1st post here be about him. I became a fan during his WM14 interview with Gennifer Flowers. I went to that year's King of the Ring specifically to see him win the tournament. I spent hundreds of dollars on his t-shirts and figures and posters and whatnot. He was the only wrestler I wanted to be like. I met him at an autograph signing at Three Rivers Stadium and paid some kid $10 to get a better place in line. And I didn't feel betrayed when he moved on to movies. As far as I was concerned, his body of work in WWE to that point was enough for me. His 2003 heel run was the perfect exclamation point. The feud with Cena may have left something to be desired. But I think CM Punk will bring out the best in him.

Id say the final 3 matches between Rock and Austin. Im not a massive Rock fan but the guy has unmatched charisma and I cant ignore that. I think Austin brought something out of him that nobody else could, especially in their last match. I can still watch it and my heart races at each near fall. The only other wrestler that makes me feel that is HBK.
