Who would you prefer to hear at the announce table in this eras WWE? Personally, Cole and King don't do it for me. Seems like JR and Regal have great chemistry at NXT tapings. I think I would enjoy any pairing as long as JR is involved.

In a perfect world I'd love JR and JBL- I think they'd be a perfect combination! I hope that the ripples JBL made on Twitter a few weeks back are true because I thought he was a very good commentator, better than Tazz was, with Cole on Smackdown. That would be ideal... But JR is never coming back to the announce booth full-time so we may as well give up on that one and Cole and Lawler aren't going anywhere. We're gonna have to eat shit on this front guys 'n' dolls

JR and Regal would be great, but it probably won't happen so I'm not even going to think about it. They have teased putting JR back on every so often, but let's face it. They aren't going to and I'd personally be surprised if they ever put him on Raw full time. At least have him on PPV...
As for Regal, take away Cole and King or simply add him to the Raw desk and it would be instantly better than it is now. That seems like the most realistic option.

I love JR but let's face it - whether it be the WWE's decision or his - he's not walking through that curtain full-time again. I think the WWE has concerns over his health and ability to be on the road X days every week, and I'd hope, as he's getting older, JR has or will have the same concerns.
Anyway, there are plenty of guys to plug in to color but the play by play is the hard one to replace. What they need to do is do a better job of producing it from Monday morning on. I think Cole likes to know all the finishes, etc., before the show. If I recall, JR preferred to NOT know that information so when making the call he'd have more 'surprise' and 'emotion' in his call of the action. I really think that made all the difference in the world. Listening to JR call a wrestling match is like listening to Jim Lampley call a boxing match. They're on the edge of their seat because they love the sport their covering; They're tense because they understand the gravity of the situation; and, they flat blow their tops when the finish occurs - regardless of who wins - because of all the emotion they've stored up while watching the action. The guys culminate their announcing the way the action culminates - start out slow and build it up to a frenzied climax. As a result I think Lamps and JR have some of the most magnificent 'combat sport' calls of bouts I've ever heard.

My biggest issue with Mitchell Cole is he still goes in and out of his heel character and to me your play by play guy should just worry about calling the action not burying the (face) talent. I'm not crazy about King (haven't been for about 14 years now) but if he needs to be included make him the heel it better suits him. If I'm getting to restructure the announce team I'd go with either Cole and Regal or Cole and JBL.
