One of the biggest moments in Wrestling history was the Montreal Screw Job. I have two questions to start another discussion on the topic. First, who was to blame, did Bret screw Bret or was it Vinny Mac's fault? Secondly what would the wrestling world have been without it?
I think that the whole thing was caused by a total break down of communication. If vince had gone and spoken to bret and made sure he would do the job then there would've been no need to worry or to screw him over. on the other hand bret could've been the one to smooth things over prior to this happening although he had no idea what was going to happen that night. I also think that Eric Bitchoff has some blame to him as he created the culture of suspicion and paranoia between the two companies during the Monday night wars.
The wrestling world would've been very different now if this had not have happened. lets face it, without it we probably would have never had the Mr McMahon character that was and probably still is the biggest heel WWE/F has ever had. The McMahon character was essential for WWE winning the monday night wars as it was his interaction with Stone Cold that made the attitude era so exciting and revolutionary. People often credit Stone Cold for being one of the main reasons for WWE winning the war but lets never forget that ever hero needs a villain and without the screw job we may never have had the McMahon character and whilst WWE may still have won the war eventually, his character and his interaction with Stone Cold, certainly made it a quicker and more resolute victory.
